Cycling the Alps to a Michelin 3-Star

Is it possible to cycle a mile in elevation, meet with 10 wineries, and dine at a newly-minted Michelin 3-star all in one day?

What's In This Video?

The Italian Alps (Alto Adige / Südtirol) offers a confluence of rugged outdoors, fine dining, and wine all in one place.

I (Madeline Puckette) founded Wine Folly in 2011, and my compatriot on this adventure is Aldo Sohm, who works at Le Bernardin in NYC. When we found out that we both love riding bicycles, we decided to come to Alto Adige.

The goal is to cycle Passo Mendola, Selleronda, and Passo Stelvio and visit the new restaurant, Atelier Moessmer, and several top-notch winemakers.

Atelier Moessmer, under chef Norbert Niederkofler, just opened in July 2023. Within four months, they received three stars and one green star from the Michelin Guide. We’re excited to learn what their program is all about (and taste the food!).
